Dental care is important for overall health which makes toothpaste as an important item found in almost every household worldwide. But many conventional toothpastes contain harmful ingredients such as fluoride, propylene glycol, parabens, and artificial coloring. These can pose health risks such as neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption, and allergic reactions. Our project, called “ToothBites,” aims to create environmental friendly toothpaste tablets without these harmful substances. ToothBites is made of calcium carbonate from eggshells, baking soda, xylitol, peppermint essential oil, and water. The project aim to use eggshell waste, rich in calcium carbonate, as a sustainable ingredient for oral care, benefiting both health and the environment. We process these eggshells by boiling and softening them, then grinding them into a fine powder. This powder is then mixed with baking soda, xylitol, peppermint essential oil, and water to create a paste. The paste is then shaped, arranged, and dried into tablets, which are packaged in eco-friendly glass jars to reduce environmental impact. Using eggshell-derived calcium carbonate in ToothBites provides effective cleaning and whitening, similar to conventional toothpaste but without the health risks. By avoiding harmful ingredients, ToothBites reduce exposure to potential toxins, making them safer for everyone. ToothBites is a big step towards safe and healthy oral care. The tablets are convenient and easy to carry, reducing the environmental impact of traditional toothpaste packaging and it supports the goal of environmental sustainability.
