Household detergents often contain harmful chemicals that can pollute waterways, leading to eutrophication and damaging aquatic ecosystems. These substances pose risks to human health as well, often triggering allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Additionally, the packaging for these detergents is typically made of non-biodegradable plastic, making disposal environmentally challenging. The combination of these factors means that conventional detergents contribute significantly to environmental degradation, both through chemical pollution and plastic waste. Addressing these issues requires a shift towards eco-friendly alternatives that minimise toxic ingredients and utilise biodegradable packaging, thus reducing the overall environmental impact while maintaining effective cleaning capabilities. The purpose of this project is to minimise the negative environmental impacts of chemical detergents to protect our natural ecosystems for future generations. Thus, we introduce SOLDE, an eco-friendly alternative formulated with non-toxic and organic materials for general household purposes that prioritises environmental sustainability, human health, and resource conservation without compromising on cleaning efficacy and affordability. SOLDE is designed to protect aquatic ecosystems and ensure effective cleaning performance. By adopting eco-conscious production processes and renewable ingredients, SOLDE demonstrates a commitment to sustainable practices that minimise resource consumption and waste generation. The findings suggest that using eco-friendly detergents like SOLDE can significantly lower our ecological footprint and promote a more sustainable future.
